Forbidden Sex is at the Crest of Love

Forbidden Sex is at the Crest of Love

Forbidden sex is at the crest of love

In literature—Guenevere, Lancelot,

Lost Romeo and Juliet—above

King Mark, Tristan and Iseult.  Or distraught

Love is the peak—“O Absalom, my son,

Would God I had died for thee!”

Or mother love.  No, that has been undone

By women like Medea and that sea

Filled by abortions and infanticides.

Most cultures, almost every tribe, pretend

The apex is for bridegrooms and for brides.

But what do holy red ink words commend?

Jesus told John, “No love has higher ends

Than men surrendering their lives for friends.”
