Easy Does It

Easy Does It

Sometimes the definitions seem less grand.

D. H. Lawrence remarks, “I like him.  What

Else is there?”  Friendship’s not a big demand.

It doesn’t have to be a great big strut

Of pledges, principles, philosophy;

It’s more, “How Come You Like Me Like You Do?”

(Some people like Savannah, some D.C.)

No need to be the Jesus and John crew

Or Jonathan and David at their best.

It’s enough to find Jack Daniel’s comfort

With your man, enjoy a joke and a jest,

Chill, quiet as a black spaniel’s comfort.

  Friendships are made up of Smith, Brown, and Jones.

    Just settle into male warmth, Lazybones.
