Contemplative are agates, geodes too,

And also quartz within them.  All are filled

With meditation colored with the blue

Of crystals in their hearts or inner frilled

With amethyst of glow-shone purple when

Reflection opens up, when light reveals.

The mines of southern Africa have men

Who dig to show the darkness there conceals

The fruits of contemplation, shining stones

Of white and yellow, revelation’s beams.

All rocks in mystic fact derive from zones

Of  contemplation, prophecy’s own dreams.

The mindful minerals do not cry out.

Yet then again the agates never doubt.
