The Wealth of Logic and of Knowledge

The Wealth of Logic and of Knowledge

For Brian who has a mathematical mind

A wealthy heather robes the royal fields.

That purple is presented wide and high

On hills. They take the flowering as it wields

Its majesty then upward to the sky

As Thomas raised theology above

The welter of the controversialists

Around his quill and parchment.  He wrote love

Methodically among the godly fists

That thrived on fighting over beauty in

The monastery scrolls dispersed around

The deserts and iced bogs.  The luscious sin

Of pride his maths-like inkwell scratching drowned.

He wrote in black, not purple in his cell.

He searched out what a rigid mind could quell.
