A Shimmering Coronet
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Like ripples in the clouds the skylark’s song
Strikes ever changing in its slants and shades.
Since such a tiny throat could be so strong
That it can move the heights with wild cascades
Of music seems as near to miracle
As nature can allow. And even more
This fact is like a legend’s lyrical
Astonishment so wonderful that lore,
However glistening, is a lie compared
To glory such as this. Wings disappear
Then in the firmament like beauty squared
By poetry while splendor hovers there.
..The rippling pierces everything around,
….Above, below. It looms, perfection crowned.
