A Sheen of Strength
A sheen of strength more powerful than gold
Shines svelte on outer surfaces of glass,
A beauty far more powerful and old
Than gilding. Spreading out across the grass
This April morning is an hour that brings
Its joy to beast and plant alike. A bright
New silver gloss is overlaid and clings
To lawn and ground. It is a jewelled light
Of sterling, diamonds and sparkling shows
Of emeralds and loveliness, is rife
With promises of riches as it glows
A dawning day and prophesies new life.
..It’s just the sunshine on the windows, trees
And farms and is eternal spring’s reprise.
