“I need lions in gilded cages; it’s awful, after human flesh, lions love gold,  and no one ever gives it to them.”  ~Oscar Wilde

Who would put his lion in a cage of

Lead rubbed with gilding foil?  Not lead for mine

But purest heavy gold, the gold of love

This cage would hold him and become a shrine

More beautiful than marriage.  He could eat me.

My hands would tear out chunks, beginning with

My heart, so feeding him would set him free.

The gates would open as I feed my pith

To him.  The lion would demand the gold

Be broken into slivers as required

To eat and then the prison could not hold

Him.  He would have whatever he desired.

My soul would be his perfect lover powered

By sacrifice.  He’d snarl as he devoured.
