Yeah, Right

A semantics teacher begins his first lecture of the course with this introduction: “In English grammar a double negative produces a positive. In some languages a double negative produces an intensified negative. In no language does a double positive produce a negative.” From the back of the a young man’s voice calls out, “Yeah. Right.”
Because no symmetry exists around
The universe, or if it does, minute
And patchy as in DNA, the sound
Of music of the spheres is mute
So far as comfort is concerned. A sage
May tell us otherwise, but there’s no hope.
Millennia go by and every age
And every era comes up with new scope
For wickedness. The edelweiss blooms high
And white and Hitler comes. Pol Pot and Mao
Tse-tung arise. A Stalin, brutal, sly,
And smiling winks and slaughters anyhow.
..Then at the last the Big Rip will occur.
….The cosmos will become a torn up slur.
