The second of the two big lies is this.
They both are spoken to us daily dressed
In slime. The two are spoken with a hiss
That tastes of drugs. We swallow both with zest,
Slime making each as easy to imbibe
As perfect fruit already peeled and sliced.
We do not really need a forked-tongue bribe
To gulp them down. So eager for the tryst
Of these temptations and our very souls,
We freeze up like a creature hypnotized
Except we lean toward it wondering holes
A-drooling, subconsciously self-despised.
..“You shall not surely die” and “be as god,”
….We self-apply and so we self-defraud.
