Disclosure of Might in Slackness
“The tree manifests the bodily power of the wind;
The wave exhibits the spiritual nature of the moon.”
The tree is strong but not quite strong enough.
Its lack of strength unveils the power of wind.
This tree thus weak reveals that wind is rough.
The sturdiness of trees has not been thinned
Yet in their weaknesses they show a force
Unseen. Its body though transparent shakes
The limbs and leaves. The distant lunar source
Of light invisibly moves seas and lakes.
If they were strong enough, the strength above
Would not prevail. Because they are not strong
They grant the silent force of heavenly love.
They show us what was hidden all along.
..The weaknesses reveal a truth unknown
….And so their weaknesses show strength full-blown.
