“The sea is as deepe in a calme as in a storme.” ~ John Donne, Sermons, Mundus Mari

“If hypothetically Mount Everest were placed into the trench at this point, its peak would still be under water by more than two kilometres (1.2 mi).[a]

“At the bottom of the trench, the water column above exerts a pressure of 1,086 bars (15,750 psi), more than 1,071 times the standard atmospheric pressure at sea level….”[6]

Deepest Ocean The Mariana Trench Location History and Depth – InfoBush

A hurricane builds up and crosses seas

And oceans.  Crashing waves rage on beyond

Their depths.  On days when there is just a breeze,

Atlantic caves are steep, not in some pond.

Typhoons traverse the Mariana deeps,

But when the mildest winds or settled calm

Descend above, profundity still keeps

Its utterness, more dense than any psalm

That David dared not write.  A cyclone roars

Along the surface of Pacific waves

But it is silliness.  Lost dinosaurs

Are chasmed darker than an ocean’s naves.

..The fathoms are the fathoms.  They do not

….Require distress.  They are forever taut.
