The Constituents of Man
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
The man is made of mud and semen, thought
Of course, and other juice, testosterone
And throbbing blood. A suited astronaut
Or physicist is just as rife with groan
As with his sweat. He raises up his fist
And pheromones are broadcast from the hair
Beneath his shoulder. These are made like mist
Of necromancy. They are meant to snare.
Inside him there are other things like chords
And melodies not always fluid but
As necessary as a prayer. The cords
That hold his muscles to his bones help jut
Of biceps and of thighs. Their hairy robes
Imply centrality of wiry globes.
