“At the time of the conquest, the Tairona had different cultural practices than Modern Native American populations. Ethnographic sources highlight freedom to divorce and acceptance of homosexuality.” ~ “Tairona,” Wikipedia, Religious Beliefs
Columbian Sierra mountain men
In ancient times were not so different than
The people in the time of Troy and when
The Iliad revealed how man and man,
And man and gods appeared upon the plain
Of Troy, Tairona readers felt the force
Of Homer. Men and women felt the pain
Of Priam and Achilles and the hoarse
Wails screeching from the widows. All too well
They understood how gods and death come down
To slaughter, and how love and hate compel
Both men and gods. These all know love will crown.
..Love crowns the murder of a son with hate.
…. Men love and loathe each other. That is fate.
