There’s No Business Like Showbusiness: Coolidge Revised

There’s No Business Like Showbusiness:

                     Coolidge Revised

America’s business isn’t business,

Not in the country’s declining century.

The nation now wallows in Gee Whizzness

Over violent films, David Lynchery,

And all that gruesome stuff.  Everyone’s got

Dumb earphones, iPhones, webphones in their heads,

And those who haven’t, have happily bought

Porno DVDS to play by their beds.

The word “Madonna” has a wholly new

Spin . . . used to be a Virgin; the hot tip

Now’s that she will get a billion to do

Her saucy thing for five years on the Strip.

The Yanks flock to their multiplexes, malls.

     China rises.  The Republic falls.
