The twilight of the fireflies plays a part

In memories, not in nightmares, though.  Our dreams

Include the fireflies.  Surrealist art

Despite the dreamworld focuses on screams

And not such floating beauties the as green

Of firefly signals in the evening dusk.

For Freud they are not vile enough, obscene

Enough,  Romance of winging is like musk

Perfume transformed to pale and blinking lights

So let them have their love, neuroses not

Included on his prying couch.  Let blights

Like those avoid psychotherapy’s blot.

The fireflies dip and rise and swerve with blinks

That whisper wandering lovers with their winks.
