Coronis and Hyacinthus

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Sun daydreams are from gods, divinities

From Greece who moved to France (with Rome

Along the way).  Their masculinities

Refuse the matron goddesses.  Gods roam

The waking dreams of men and boys and swell

In heat and strength.  You know exactly what

Gods mean.  You know they mean that men should smell

Of sweat and will.  Men know that gods are hot

With violence and semen.  Gods don’t wait.

They rip off what they want.  They rip inside.

Do not pretend that you don’t know.  They sate

Themselves and then move on.  Rapes coincide.

The brightest, hottest one, Apollo, fills

Male dreams.  He drills in first and then he kills.
