Despite a vampire novel trying to

Describe what Paradise is like, despite

The sacred texts and sacred visions through

Millennia, despite Apostle height

On Patmos, I am not completely clear

What Paradise looks like.  But then again

I have a feeling that the atmosphere

Inside a sculptor’s studio demesne

Is heaven enough for him.  A painter’s view

Upon his easel, and beyond, supplies

Enough of visions to construe

For him through oils a glimpse of paradise.

A poet at his laptop writes a line

So jolting that it touches the divine.
