Knowing Men
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. ~ Ezekiel 16:49
Both Sodom and Gomorrah, salt-lick graves,
Are so completely deep that ghosts can’t haunt
Them or the blistered air above. The waves
Of potash are so full of wraiths too gaunt
To shimmer even, though they got that way
Through hatred’s fire from loving Trinity,
That all their passions now can only sway
Invisibly like blank Divinity
Uprearing, rampant on a quartered shield
Of heraldry. What’s left is like a spring
In Yellowstone writ large, a sea-like field
Of smoky desolation, mists with sting.
..The lusts of greediness God hated most
….And so He turned the towns to liquid roast.
